Raymond C. Vogt, Sr., 86, of Lewistown died at 9:25 p.m., Monday, April 20, 2015 at Golden Living Center – William Penn.
Born May 11, 1928 in Strodes Mills he was a son of the late Albert Vogt and Frieda (Ostertag) Diegal.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Fike, and brother-in-law, Ed Fike.
Raymond is survived by: his wife, Shirley P. (Krot) Vogt, whom he married on June 11, 1955; his sons, Raymond C. Vogt, Jr., and wife, Linda, of McVeytown and Mark C. Vogt, of Lewistown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Raymond was a sergeant in the U.S. Army.
He was employed with the Mifflin County School District.
He was a Lutheran by faith.
Raymond was a member of the Lewistown Auxiliary Fire Police for years.
He liked collecting trains, riding his motorcycle, and hunting. He enjoyed plowing snow with his tractor. He loved the holidays with his family, especially Christmas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2015 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. John Looney officiating.
Viewings will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23 and from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Interment with VFW Post 7011 honors will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
