Christina A. Berich

Christina A. Berich, 67, of Lewistown passed away at 3:20 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Nov. 2, 1948 in Lewistown she was a daughter of the late Reba “Jackie” (Gibboney) and Anthony Berich.

She is survived by: her siblings, Thomas Berich and wife, Susan, of Yeagertown, Elizabeth Farrell and husband, Barry, of Lewistown, Douglas Berich and wife, Beverly, of Yeagertown and Gretchen Berich, of Lewistown; nieces and nephews, Bridget Carnicelli and husband, Glenn, Anthony Berich and wife, Kristin, Michael Berich and wife, Angela and Craig Berich and wife, Vanessa; nine great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is also survived by her aunts and uncles: Richard Gibboney and wife, Ann, Ellen (Gibboney) Bryant, John Crownover and wife, Carol, and Sally Metz; and many cousins, friends and colleagues.

Christina was a 1966 graduate of Chief Logan High School and a 1970 graduate of Lock Haven State College.

She was a special education teacher retiring from the Mifflin County School District after 34 years of service. She was a member of Association of Mifflin County Educators and served in several positions, including president. She was a member of The National Educator Association and Pennsylvania State Education Association, again, serving at the regional and state level.

Christina was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

She took painting classes and enjoyed art, reading and antiques.

Christina was a member of the Mifflin County Historical Society and served a term as president.

A receiving of friends and family will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St. Lewistown.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 27 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown with Father William Weary officiating.  A meal will follow the service at the Sacred Heart School.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park following the service.
