Mary Lou (Burkholder) Burdick

Mary Lou Burdick, 85, of Yeagertown died at 9:13 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015 at her home.

Born June 24, 1929 in Lewistown she was a daughter of the late Malachi O’Dwyer and Edna Grace (Shilling) Burkholder.

She was the last of the Burkholder siblings having been preceded in death by four brothers, John, Robert, David, and Larry Burkholder and four sisters, Dorothy Rhodes, Elizabeth Ann Burkholder, Helen Hunt and Marie Corkins.

Mary Lou is survived by the love of her life, George W. Burdick, whom she married on April 14, 1949; her daughter, Carla Ann Burdick-Peachey and companion, Jack Dempsey; and her son, Chris Burdick and wife, Sharon, both of Lewistown; and  three grandchildren, Lance Peachey, Landrey Burdick and Brooks Burdick.

She was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School.

Earlier in life she had worked at the Jamesway, John Hunley Tax Collector, secretary at Lewistown High School and also a secretary at Howard Kline.

Mary Lou was a member of Yeagertown United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed singing in the choir and at weddings. She liked family weddings, collecting antiques and was a great cook.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Carola Beasley-Topliffe officiating.

Viewings will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23 and from 10 – 11 a.m. Friday, April 24 at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
