Obituary
Shirley A. Tyson, 85, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.
Born on June 25, 1937, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Lucena (Barraclough) Kinser.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; husband, Paul Garis Tyson; and siblings, Sandy Moyle, Jim Kinser, and Robert Kinser.
She is survived by; two sons, Timothy P. Tyson and wife, Susie, of Lewistown, and Kenneth D. Tyson, of Lewistown; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Audrey Williamson, of Mifflintown, and Donald ‘Butch’ Kinser and wife, Carmen, of Hershey.
Shirley was a member of Granville Brethren in Christ Church.
She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1955.
In her earlier years, she worked in downtown McCrory’s, Fisher’s Electronics, and lastly as a custodian in the Mifflin County School District where she retired.
She loved her family and enjoyed going to yard sales.
A viewing will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., Monday, May 15, 2023, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m., with Pastor Mark Crosson officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
