Sharon Ann (Kochenderfer) Jones, 75, of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Oct. 13, 1945, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late H. Kenneth and Erma M. (Johnson) Kochenderfer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tom Swisher.
Sharon is survived by: sister, Linda (Kochenderfer) Swisher, of Reedsville; brother, Dwight K. Kochenderfer and wife, Karen (Wagner), of Lewistown; niece, Kathleen (Kochenderfer) Burke and husband, Geoffrey, of McVeytown; nephews, Scott Kochenderfer and wife, Amanda (Wilson), of Reedsville; Dan Michael Kochenderfer and wife, Jillian (Fink), of Lewistown, and Kevin Swisher, of Burnham. She is also survived by great-nephews and great-nieces; Zachary, Abby and Maya Burke, Jonas Kochenderfer, and Crue, Lila and Aven Kochenderfer.
Sharon was a graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School, Class of 1963, and Lock Haven State College, Class of 1967. She was a teacher and coach for the Mifflin County School District for 33 years, retiring in 1999. Later, she was employed at St. John’s Christian Daycare in Belleville.
She was an active member of Ellen Chapel Church, where she was a member of the choir, taught Bible school, and was director of the memorial fund. Sharon was also a member and officer of the Women’s Service Club, member of Mifflin County Retired Teachers, a volunteer for the American Red Cross and bloodmobile coordinator, Meals on Wheels volunteer and camp director.
Sharon was a very loving, kindhearted and caring person who loved her family and church family very much. In her younger years, she enjoyed boating at Raystown Lake and camping at Hidden Valley Campground, where she had a permanent site.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m., Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Monday, March 29, 2021, at Ellen Chapel Church, 11764 Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, with Rev. Mark Hill officiating.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown.
Those attending services must wear masks, practice social distancing and follow current COVID and Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines.
