Robert 'Bob' Swineford Obituary

Robert (Bob) E. Swineford, 80, of Lancaster, danced his way into Heaven at 5:35 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, at ManorCare Health Services, Lancaster.

Born May 16, 1940, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Roy E. J. and Grace S. E. (Howell) Swineford.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Noreen M. (Ammerman) Swineford, March 7, 2012; and siblings, Charles Swineford, Roy T. Swineford, Thomas Swineford, Phyllis Wilson, Eileen Swineford, Muriel Swineford, Beverly Baker, and Sylvia R. Swineford.

Bob is survived by: children, Ann Swineford and spouse, Carol Welsh, of Lancaster, and Daniel Swineford and wife, Annemarie (Pinti), of Milford, Mass.; four grandchildren, his pride and joy, Justin and Joshua Koh-Swineford, both of Lancaster, and Kathryn and Ronan Swineford, both of Milford, Mass.; siblings, Ethel E. Swineford, of Lewistown, Kenneth M. Swineford, of Millmont, Barbara Kelly, of Lewistown, and William A. Swineford and wife, Lynda, of Lewistown; sister-in-law, Susanne (Ammerman) McClellan and husband, Eric, of Lancaster; and brother-in-law, Robert Ammerman and wife, Brenda, of Ga.

Bob was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1958.  He was a member of the legendary 1957-58 Lewistown High School football team that went undefeated.  Bob was employed as a truck driver at Noerr Motor Freight in Lewistown and New Penn Motor Freight as a dock jockey until his retirement in 2005.  Bob enjoyed life and lived it to its fullest.  At Brooklyn Hose Company, when the band took intermission, Bob would put on a long, dark wig and pretend to be Tiny Tim and would sing "Tiptoe Through the Tulips."  He enjoyed music and dancing.  One of his greatest enjoyments was tailgating at Penn State football games and cheering for Penn State football.

Due to the Covid pandemic, the family has chosen not to have a public viewing or funeral.  The family asks Bob's friends to wear Penn State blue and white on Wednesday and to toast Bob with your favorite drink.

A graveside service for the family will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at Juniata Memorial Park, 9010 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.

Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
