Lois I. Speece

Lois I. Speece, 101, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2020, at Rosewalk Village of Lafayette, Indiana.

Born March 18, 1919, in Altoona, she was a daughter of the late William H. Buckel Sr. and Mary M. (Brown) Buckel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, George A. Speece, who passed in 2003; siblings, William H. Buckel Jr., Lenora Kreider, Jessie Hostler, and Nancy Dilling.

She is survived by: a brother-in-law, four nieces, and three nephews: David Dilling of Lafayette, IN, Mary E. (Dilling) Vasto and husband, Franc, of Charlotte, NC, Anne (Dilling) Gick and husband, Jon, of Herndon, VA, Laura E. (Dilling) Holloway and husband, Steve, of Denver, CO, Jonathan C. Dilling and wife, Terri, of Atlanta, GA, Carl E. Hostler of Hurricane, WV, John A. Hostler of Aurora, CO, and Susan E. Buckel, of Dover, PA.

Lois was a graduate of Altoona High School in 1937 and the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1943. She was a member of the Lewistown Hospital Nurse’s Alumni Association.

Lois loved life. She cared about others and had a close circle of life-long friends including James and Vera Harpster, of Burnham, PA.

Services are private and held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Interment will take place at Blair Memorial Park, Altoona.
