Laura J. Tate

In loving memory, Laura Jean Tate, 89, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in Yeagertown, PA. She will be sadly missed but has finally met her Lord and Savior.  She was born on Nov 4 ,1932 in Freeport, Illinois to the late Peter and Zelda (Konstant) Eckhoff and was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry (Jed) L. Tate in 1998, and her sister, Norma June Eckhoff.

Laura was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend - but above all, a devoted Christian. As a longtime member of the Calvary Bible Church and an organizer of the "Christian After 5" club for 15 years, her biggest desire in life was to share the word of God to everyone she knew and to make sure her family knew the Lord as their personal Savior. Her caring spirit, infectious laugh, and delicious home cooked meals meant her house was never empty and she had a special way of making everyone feel loved. Laura graduated from Pleasant Prairie Academy in German Valley, IL and worked in the Lewistown hospital dietary department for 28 years, followed by 15 years at Calvary Bible Kid Kamp.

She is survived by her 5 children, 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and sister, Mary J. Manus of Illinois. Children: Timothy Tate and wife Luann of Bellville; Susan Kauffman and husband David of Lewistown; Jeannie Miriello and husband Ralph of Lewistown; Laurie Yoder and late husband, Bradley of McVeytown; and Kathleen Peana and husband Stefan of Austin, Texas. Grandchildren: Danielle Smoker and husband, Shawn; Jada Depew and husband, Brian; Matthew Tate; Vincent Miriello and wife, Sara; Aaron Tate and wife, Amanda; Brandon Yoder; Brent Yoder and fiance, Allie Douglas; Angela Yoder and husband, Joseph; Jordan Peana and wife, Michelle; Dana Coder and husband, Kyle; Stefanie Carvalho and husband, Raony; and Eric Peana.  

A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Calvary Bible Church, located at 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown, PA. A second viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022, at Calvary Bible Church, with a celebration of life to follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ethan Druckenmiller officiating. Interment will take place in the Birch Hill Cemetery, located at 1100 N Pine St, Burnham, PA.
