John C. McKinnon Sr., 85, of Lewistown, passed away at 11:34 a.m., Sunday, May 10, 2020, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Dec. 8, 1934, in Portland, Maine, he was a son of the late John I. and Pauline (Leonard) McKinnon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Lorraine (Dillman) McKinnon; brother, Ronald "Red" L. McKinnon; and daughter-in-law, Julie McKinnon.
John is survived by: children, John C. McKinnon Jr., of Lewistown, and Traci L. McKinnon, of McClure; grandchildren, John C. McKinnon III, and Jessica McKinnon Romig and husband, Richard; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Payton and Drew; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Lewistown High School and was a Navy veteran.
He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Lewistown, where he served as sexton.
John was the owner of The Dutch Cellar and also worked at the Lake Park Grille. He later was employed at Standard Steel as a mechanic until retiring in 1998.
John loved spending time with his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, especially with his best friend, "Cookie" McCalips. John liked antiques and attending the weekly sales in Belleville. He also loved animals, especially his cats.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
