Joan L. Knepp

Joan L. Knepp, 90, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Providence Place Senior Living of Chambersburg.

Born May 1, 1931, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Donald Burke and Inez Pearl (Gross) Eberts.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by; husband, Mark W. Knepp, whom she married July 2, 1949; and a sister, Barbara Ann Mowery.

She is survived by; a daughter, Vicki K. Glover and husband Mike, of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Kathryn L. Cessna, and Evan M. Glover; two great-grandchildren, Samuel C. Cessna and Margaret L. Cessna.

Joan was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1949.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority; a member of the Lewistown Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Women of the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America).

Joan sometimes worked part-time at Dank’s Department store and did seasonal work for Deihl’s Florist. She was a member of the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary and worked at the hospital gift shop.

She was very active in her church and enjoyed getting together and spending time with her lifelong friends “The Girls”.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N Main St, Lewistown, PA 17044, with Rev. Allen Hulslander and Rev. Charles Harshberger officiating, and special services will be held by the Order of the Eastern Star.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Juniata Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
