JoAnn M. (Hower) Noerr

JoAnn M. (Hower) Noerr, 90, of McVeytown, died at 5:03 p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023, at home.

Born Aug. 13, 1932 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Arthur M. Hower Sr. and Martha E. (Bayshore) Hower.  Her husband, Richard C. Noerr Sr., whom she married June 10, 1950, preceded her in death on June 13, 2004.  Also preceding her in death was her brother, Arthur “Jack” Hower, and her sister, Joyce (Hower) Kerstetter.

JoAnn is survived by her children, Richard C. Noerr Jr. and wife, Mary Jane (Bowman) Noerr, Lewistown, and Scott A. Noerr and wife, Ellen J. (Norton) Noerr, McVeytown.  Four grandchildren include Christian B. Noerr, Alicia N. (Noerr) Burns, R. Alex Noerr, and Scott A. N. Noerr.  Great-grandchildren include Taylor Monroe, Caleb Noerr, Ethan Burns, Dylan Noerr, Chelsea Noerr, Ella Noerr and Penny Noerr.

JoAnn was the proud sole owner of Norlin Warehousing Services, Inc. in Lewistown.  In her early years, JoAnn, known affectionately as Meema, was an avid golfer, skier and fierce card shark.  She enjoyed collecting all things related to owls.  Throughout her life, JoAnn loved taking care of her mountain home, creating a beautiful, peaceful respite, where she lived until she passed.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflin County Library, 123 North Wayne Street, Lewistown, PA 17044, or Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central PA, 745 West Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033-2304.
