James H. Kahley, 99, of Burnham and most recently of Greenwood Center, Lewistown, passed away at 8:35 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born Aug. 11, 1923, in McClure, Snyder County, he was a son of the late John H. and Marjorie (Manicel) Kahley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Dorothy L. (Bradley) Kahley, Aug. 19, 2011; son, Mark B. Kahley; grandson, James Kahley; and siblings, Arla May Kahley and Eugene Kahley.
James is survived by: son, Kenneth Kahley and wife, Sherry, of Philipsburg; five grandchildren, Kera Kahley, Kathleen Morrison, Kyle Kahley, Jordan Wilkinson, and Zachary Kahley; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beatrice Zimmerman, of McClure.
He served in the U.S. Army as a truck driver assigned to the 21st Engineer Combat Battalion at Fort Carson, Colo. from Nov. 1948 to Dec. 1949.
James was a member of Burnham Church of the Brethren.
He retired from Standard Steel Corporation in 1985 with 43 ½ years of service, where he was employed in Test Preparation.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, followed by the funeral service at 3 p.m., with Rev. George Yocum officiating.
Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
