Geraldine "Gerry" Leeper Obituary

Geraldine E. "Gerry" Leeper, 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 7 a.m., Sunday, March 29, 2020, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital, due to a stroke.

Born March 8, 1934, in Dunbar, Fayette County, she was the adopted daughter of the late Gerald and Arletta Wike.

Gerry is survived by: her husband, Niles "Skip" Leeper, whom she married Oct. 31, 1954; daughters, Lisa Clark and husband, Gregory, of Paoli, and Kristie Wian and husband, William III, of Manhattan, N.Y., and the son she never had, James Shannon, of Reedsville; three grandchildren, Christopher Clark, William Wian IV, and Margo Wian and fiance, Devin DeLaCruz; and step-brother, Rick Wike.

She graduated from Lewistown-Granville High School, Class of 1952.

Gerry went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. and then was a secretary for a justice's office.  Upon relocating to Lewistown, she was a secretary for the local water authority, and lastly, the manager of Leeper's Music House in Burnham until her retirement.

Gerry enjoyed being "Honeybear", the mascot for Hospice-The Bridge, visiting patients and providing a measure of joy and comfort to their lives.  She was a member of Freedom Avenue United Methodist Church in Burnham, and a member of The United Way.  She and Skip spent many winters in Florida where one of her greatest joys was collecting seashells.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor and remember Gerry will be held at a later date.
