Gary L. Johns

Gary L. Johns, 78, of Lewistown, passed away at 9:10 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021, at his home.  

Born Sept. 16, 1942, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Martin J. and Violet L. (Waite) Johns. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Floyd, William and Danny Johns.   

Gary is survived by: wife, Shirley (Hower) Johns; children, Brett Johns and fiancé, Marjorie Murphey, Wendy Smith and husband, Curtiss, and Tracy Gray and husband, William, all of Lewistown; five grandchildren, Cody, Hunter and Cassy Johns, and Sommer and Jedidiah Smith; and great-grandchildren, Blake Aumiller, and Carter and Wyatt Johns.  

He was employed in the maintenance department at Lewistown Specialty Yarns.  

Gary loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed fishing in his early years, loved watching western movies and television shows, and reading Louis L’Amour novels.    

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2021, followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m., at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan Street, Lewistown, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating. 

Interment will take place at Dormantown Lutheran Cemetery, McClure.
