Doris Annabelle Spigelmyer, 87, of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Her love of family and firm belief in God allowed her a peaceful passage while in the caring arms of the angels who work at Ohesson Manor.
Born March 11, 1933, in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late Dorthea Nonemaker Barrett and Chester W. Long. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, John Bruce Barrret and stepbrothers, James A. Barrett, Kenneth L. Barrett and stepsister, Martha Barrett Miller and late husbands, Harold M. Spigelmyer, Leonard L. Reed, Sr. and James R. Wilburne, Jr.
Doris is survived by three adoring sons, Douglas R. Wilburne and wife, Rebecca, of Hershey, PA, Dale R. Wilburne and wife Debbie, of Lewistown, PA and Dean R. Wilburne, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. She found great joy in her grandchildren, Douglas J. Wilburne and wife, Kathryn, of Shippensburg, PA, John D. Wilburne and wife, Alicia, of Hershey, PA, Brianne M. Santarelli and husband, Dave, of Macgungie, PA, Dane R. Wilburne and wife, Kierstin, of Sterling, VA, Drew R. Wilburne and wife, Jen, of Harrisburg, PA and James R. Wilburne, of Lewistown, PA; step-grandchildren, Courtney MacGregor and husband, Sean, of Westfield, NJ, Lindsay Koch and husband, Jonathan, of Hershey, PA and Brittany Leopardi and husband, Ron, of Ardmore, PA: and step/great-grandchildren Taylor, Porter, Kellan, Emily, Kerry, Carter, Adeline, Beck, Audrey, Owen, Connor, Mason, Madelyn, Jack and Logan. Even though she suffered from dementia these last few years, she remembered all their names!
Doris was a member of the Evangel Baptist Church of Lewistown, loved to travel and never missed an opportunity for a good conversation. She was a devoted mother, active in supporting all her three sons’ activities from school organizations, to bands, to sports, to Boy Scouts. She also worked to support her family, holding down a series of jobs at Fisher Electronics, Ruhl’s for Men, Danks & Co. and retired from Scotty’s Fashions.
A memorial celebrating Doris’s life will be held at the Evangel Baptist Church, 375 W 5th St, Lewistown, PA, beginning at 11:00 am, Thursday, January 28, 2021. A COVID-compliant lunch reception will be held in the church facilities immediately following.
Contributions in tribute to Doris’s life can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Awana Youth Program at the Evangel Baptist Church of Lewistown.
