Dean E. Berry, 80, of Ickesburg, PA, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023, at his home.
Born on July 26, 1942, in East Waterford, he was a son of the late Robert P. and Grace Madeline (Berrier) Berry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Dorothy P. (Rice) Berry; a son, Dwayne E. Berry; and siblings, Sandy Lee Scott, and Leon Berry.
He is survived by; son, Daniel E. Berry and wife, Danielle, of Ickesburg; grandchildren, Dena E. Kilian and husband, Chris, of Carlisle, David R. Berry and husband, Darren Clouser, of Shermansdale; step- grandchildren, Dillon J. Treaster and wife, Laetitia, of Mifflintown, Gage P. Treaster and fiancée, Hailey Swartz, of Evendale; great-grandchildren, Blaise C. Kilian, Clara M. Kilian, and Reed James Treaster; siblings, Roxanne Swartz, of Carlisle, Donna Dietz and husband, Stanley, of Stanford, Montana, Deanna Scott and husband, Dennis, of East Waterford; daughter-in-law, Diann Berry, of Loysville.
Dean worked at Central Storage & Transfer in maintenance as a mechanic and he worked for UPS in the overnight freight transportation department.
He was a self taught master mechanic. In his earlier years working for Central Storage as a fork-lift mechanic, he quickly learned he could fix anything with an engine.
He restored many classic cars over the years, and he taught his teen aged sons how to fix engines, restore car bodies, fish and hunt. Most of all he taught his sons to have an excellent work ethic. He loved his wife, Dot, whom he affectionately called “Nooker”. He had many animals over the years; pigs, a horse, cats, and steers. He held a deep affection for his Boston Terrier dogs.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at Church of the Living Christ of Loysville, 2401 Fort Robinson Road, Loysville, PA 17047, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Ethan Swartz officiating.
Interment will take place at Buffalo Cemetery in Ickesburg.
