Willis D. Jury, 82, of McClure, passed away at 3:40 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
Born July 26, 1935, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Fred and Effie (Byers) Jury.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife of 57 years, Colleen M. (Carolus) Jury, on Jan. 23, 2015, whom he met on a cold night at the Lewistown Skating Rink; his son, Terry Lee Jury, on March 18, 2001; and two sisters, Louanna (Jury) Varner and Louise Jury.
Willis is survived by: two sisters, Jean (Jury) Walker and Darlene (Jury) Cowen, both of Mount Union; two nephews; and eight nieces.
He attended Allenport Grade School with eight years of perfect attendance and graduated from Captain Jack High School.
He attended Paintersville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
Willis was employed as a road construction foreman and equipment operator for 40 years, lastly for Hardaway Construction of Columbus, Ga., retiring in 1998.
He was a member of the Lewistown Moose, life member of the Decatur and East Derry Fire Companies, member of Mount Union Area Schools Alumni Association, and served as Master of Decatur Grange #1920. He loved everything life had to offer and enjoyed attending class reunions, hunting, fishing, gardening, caring for his property, and going to sales.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Tues., Jan. 9, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Weds., Jan. 10, at the funeral home, with Rev. Thomas Wright officiating.
Interment will take place in Saint Mark’s Cemetery, Lewistown.
