Wilbur S. Welch, 92, formerly of Lewistown, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.
Born Aug. 31, 1926, in Pueblo, Colo., he was a son of the late William S. and Theresa E. (Sullivan) Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edwin J. Welch, and nephew, Jerry Welch.
Wilbur is survived by: his daughters, Diane L. Kupetz and husband, Robert, of Belleville, and Debra G. Ostermiller and husband, Marvin, of Lone Tree, Colo.; five grandchildren, Melanie Hill and fiance, William Price, Meghan L. Aurand and husband, Travis W., Matthew L. Kupetz and wife, Veronica J., Jeremy L. Ostermiller and wife, Krissy, and Holly K. Yeager and husband, Devin; and seven great-grandchildren, Olivia, Gavin, Avery, Brayan, Ashton, Joshua and Lucia.
Also surviving are: his companion, Leonora Brannon, of Lewistown; her children, Mary Boohar and husband, Charles, and Laura Mowery and husband, Patrick; nine grandchildren, Abigail and Rachel Boohar, Kimberly and Brady Henry, and Emmalee, Kaitlynn, Camden, Joshua and Olivia Mowery; and a great-grandchild, Melody Yense.
Wilbur was a World War II and Korean Conflict Navy veteran.
He worked as a steel mill yardmaster for the Colorado and Wyoming Railway Company, a subsidiary of Colorado Fuel and Iron, for 34 years.
Wilbur loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In his earlier years, he enjoyed dancing, bowling and playing golf.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Doug Sabin officiating.
Interment with military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Columbarium, Indiantown Gap Road, Annville.
