Shirley A. Brumbaugh, 89, of McVeytown, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Valley View Retirement Community.
She was born on June 15, 1929, in Uniontown.
She was the daughter of the late Martin and Sarah (Drake) Burke.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three brothers, Martin Burke, Wilbur “Sonny” Burke and Donald Burke; and five sisters, Mary Lib Confer, Thelma Shuey, Louise Crownover, Lucille Brehman and Josephine Burke.
She is survived by: her husband, Bruce F. Brumbaugh Sr., whom she married on Aug. 22, 1948 and shared 69 years of marriage; children, Bruce “Jake” F. Brumbaugh Jr. and wife, Pamela, of McVeytown, Kathy Jo Stimely and husband, David, of McVeytown, Mary Ann Swartz, and husband, Barry, of Lewistown, and Kimbra Lou Blessing and husband, Edwin, of McVeytown; grandchildren, Seth Brumbaugh and wife, Amy, Kelly Brumbaugh and fiance, Jason Peffer, Dee Rohrer and husband, Tony, Jennifer Sickle and husband, Dan, Barry Swartz Jr. and companion, Bronwen Prosser, Tina Miller and husband, Jeff, Shanna Cowan and companion, Harry Hastings, Casey Cowan and wife, Jolene, and Brody Blessing and companion, Casey McFadden; fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Edward Burke and wife, Marion, of Minnesota, and Richard Burke of Ohio; and sister-in-law, Catherine Burke.
Shirley was a Yeagertown High School graduate, Class of 1947.
She was a member of Lewistown Church of the Brethren.
She worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory, Giant store and Walmart pharmacy in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Shirley liked reading, listening to music and going to the beach. She loved hosting family and work picnics and spending time with her family.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, (Woodlawn), 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Traxler and Pastor Mike Sigler officiating.
Interment will be held at Juniata Memorial Park.
