Ronald Hampton Obituary

Ronald E. “Hamp” Hampton, 68, of State College, passed away at 2:26 a.m.., Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center.

Born Dec. 31, 1949, in Huntington County, he was a son of the late Lester G. Hampton and Mabel (Himes) and Mary Folk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: twin children, Heather and Michael; siblings, Betty Jane Whitsel, Thomas Lewis Hampton, Mary Mae, Walter Hampton and Stella Hampton; and a baby girl.

He is survived by: his wife, Deborah (Jones) Hampton, whom he married on Dec. 31, 1983; children, Jana, Krista, Katie, Michael and Faith; and four children from a previous marriage, Natalie, Amy, Jason and Matthew; siblings, Lester G. Hampton Jr., Patricia (Hampton) Cavill, William A. Hampton, and Carol A. (Hampton) Flanagan; many grandchildren; many great- grandchildren; many nieces and many nephews; sister-in-law, Diane Kruse and husband, Aaron; and life brother, Mike Pickets.

Ron graduated from Chief Logan High School, Class of 1968. He was a star football player, No. 32. He loved golfing, bowling, fishing and getting together with his Mingo friends.

Ron “Sump” proudly served as a combat veteran, 101 Airborne. He received two bronze stars and bronze metal. He was an E5 Sgt., and maintained a close relationship with his army brothers. Ron worked as an aircraft engine supervisor for Honeywell, where he later retired. He was loving and dedicated to his family and will be sadly missed.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at Victory Park, Lewistown, with military honors by Juniata County Veterans Council, and Captain Dave & Darlene Means officiating.
