Paul L. Lutz Jr., 86, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:15 a.m., Sunday, May 13, 2018, at Ohesson Manor.
Born July 16, 1931, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Paul L. Sr. and Sylvia (Pearce) Lutz.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by: grandsons, Brent and Justin Lutz; his brother, Ronnie “Cork” Lutz; and sister, Jean Ellis.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 65 years, Phyllis (Mellinger) Lutz; three sons, Douglas P. Lutz and wife, Debbie, of Lewistown, Mark L. Lutz and wife, Stephanie, of Altoona, and Kevin T. Lutz and wife, Paula, of Lewistown; seven grandchildren, Eric and Bryant Lutz, Miranda Coleman, Rachel Stewart, Sarah Lonsinger, Allison Lutz, and Ryan Lutz; and four great-grandchildren, Gracen Lutz, Quinn and Wyatt Coleman, and Penelope Lonsinger.
Paul graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1949.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewistown.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict from July, 1949 to November, 1952, as a radio/telegraph operator with the 274th Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
After military service, he worked at Letterman’s Bakery. Later, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for 32 years until his retirement in 1989.
Paul loved sports, especially Phillies baseball.
He was a dedicated father and husband.
A viewing will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the funeral home, with Reverend Charlie Stump and Reverend Paul Carter officiating.
Interment will take place at Saint Mark’s Cemetery, Lewistown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Paul’s name may be made to First Baptist Church, 111 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
