Max A. Naylor, 85, of Lewistown, Granville Township, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Ohesson Manor.
Born May 26, 1933, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late James and Beatrice (Hann) Naylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Hilda Brinkley, Beverly Stewart, Rex Naylor and Jay Naylor.
Max is survived by: his loving wife, Mildred (Fink) Naylor, whom he married on May 21, 1971; daughters, Sara Laub and husband, Don, of Belleville, and Dawn Lovette and husband, Gale, of McClure; four grandchildren, Donald Laub Jr. and wife, Holly, Scott Brought, Maranda Brought and companion, Dan Dubois, and Dwayne Laub; six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Anna, Ashton, Diamond and Dedra; and a great-great-grandson, Lawson.
Max was a U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1952-1956 aboard the USS Heyliger.
He was employed as a pipefitter throughout his life at the American Viscose Corporation, Standard Steel, and Rockview State Prison, from where he retired.
Early in life, Max enjoyed hunting deer and rabbits. He also began attending yard sales and flea markets which gradually developed into his passion, and for which he was well known. He later hosted huge yard sale events at his home and people came from miles around. Max enjoyed meeting people, discussing the history and background of items and dickering over a price.
A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Reverend Stephen Durr officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors.
