Kenneth Ross Earnest, 69, of Lewistown, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 2019, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Oct. 21, 1949, he was a son of the late John Earnest Sr. and Edna (Smith) Earnest, who survives.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by: sister-in-law, Tina Earnest.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his wife, Gail L. (Fergison) Earnest, who he married in December 1968; children, Mark A. Earnest and wife, Cindi J., of Lewistown, Melissa Kauffman and husband, Darren, of Reedsville, Chad O. Earnest and wife, Sherri, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Cameron Earnest, Nathan Earnest, Cole, Hannah, and Emma Kauffman, Dustin (Leah) Riden, Amanda Riden, Tim Romig; great-grandchildren, Abbi Riden and Charlotte Riden; siblings, John Earnest Jr., Judy Melius and husband, William Sr., Anita Burdge and husband, Ronald, Harold Earnest and wife, Luann, Calvin Earnest and wife, Sheila, all of Lewistown.
He was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1968.
Kenneth was a member of the Highland Park Fire Company for 50 years. He was the past fire chief, assistant chief, training officer and most recently held the treasurer position for the last 20 years. He was a social member at several other fire departments in the county. He was also a forest warden for over 30 years.
He retired from Overhead Door Corporation.
Ken enjoyed going to watch his son-in-law sing in a band and going to his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was an avid football and racing fan. He was a Christian man by faith, a devoted husband, and father that would do anything for his family.
A receiving of family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2019, at the funeral home, with Rev. Neil Breneman, officiating.
Interment will take place at Mt. Rock Cemetery.
