Jean R. VanHorne, 79, of Lewistown, passed away Monday, May 14, 2018, at her home.
Born Jan. 5, 1939, in Mifflinburg, she was a daughter of the late Oscar Rockey Sr. and Ruth (Horner) Rockey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: three infant sons and her husband, Blaine “Dick” VanHorne.
She is survived by: children, Lori VanHorne and fiance, Richard Dietrich, of Lancaster; Richard VanHorne Sr. and wife, Dolores, of Reedsville; Tami Shawver and husband, Ronald, of Lewistown; stepdaughter, Terry Galow, of N.Y.; grandchildren, Justin Camp, Matthew VanHorne, Richard VanHorne Jr., Shelby VanHorne, Trevor Shawver, Ethan Shawver; Caitlyn Shawver and Gele Shawver; stepgrandson, Josh Galow; great- grandson, Casper Cates; siblings, Oscar Rockey Jr. and wife, Kay, of Burnham; Dessa Bubb and husband, Martin, of Burnham; Jay Rockey and wife, Joyce, of Longhorne; many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly; and best friends, Barb Barker, Ann Ross and Barb Smith.
Jean was a Chief Logan High School graduate, Class of 1956.
She was a member of Freedom Ave. United Methodist Church and a member of the Moose.
Jean worked as a switchboard operator at Lewistown Hospital, retiring after 33 years. After retiring, she worked for Knouse/Fisher Technologies, repairing and working on computers. She liked going on trips to Atlantic City, Hollywood Casino and Hawaii. She enjoyed attending her class reunion get-togethers and she loved spending time with family and friends.
Services are private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
