James T. Hartland, Sr.

James T. Hartland Sr., 89, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:20 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2018, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born May 14, 1929, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Thomas J. Hartland and Ethel (Fuge) Huffnagle.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Patsy L. (Knepp) Hartland, June 28, 2004; and a son, James Thomas Hartland Jr.

James is survived by: his daughter, Deborah A. VanDerau, of McVeytown; grandchildren, Angela Lin (VanDerau) Baer, Shannon Dawn (Hartland) Yetter and Troy Anthony VanDerau; five great-grandchildren, Kyle Cribben, Hunter Chambers, Sydney VanDerau, Jayden VanDerau and Kaden Yetter; and a great-great granddaughter, Allena Cribben.

James was employed by Standard Steel for 38 years as a maintenance repairman before retiring, and was a life member of Local #1940, United Steelworkers of America.

He enjoyed collecting coins.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, 2018, at the funeral home, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park.
