Jack L. Shuey Sr., 76, of Lewistown, passed away at 6:32 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Hershey Medical Center.
Born Jan. 31, 1943, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Robert G. Sr. and Mary (Naylor) Shuey, and his stepmother, Lorraine (Lyons) Shuey. In addition to his parents and stepmother, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert G. Shuey Jr.
Jack is survived by: his wife, Carole Anne (Hackenberry) Shuey, whom he married Sept. 9, 1961, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lewistown; two children, Jack Shuey Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Owego, N.Y., and Jeane (Shuey) Peters and husband, Andy, of Huntingdon; five grandchildren, Kyle R. Shuey, Jessica E. Shuey, Andrea Dodson and husband, Jonathan, Tom Peters and Emily Peters; and three great-grandchildren, Javaughn, Khairi and Maliyah Dodson; and sisters, M. Ruth Hower and husband, Larry, of Mexico, Pa., and Janet M. Storm and husband, Tom, of Lewistown.
He graduated from Lewistown High School, Class of 1960.
Jack was employed at Standard Steel for 43 years as a machinist. He retired in 2005.
Jack loved trains, especially steam engines, photography, working with metal and taking long walks. He did volunteer work for the Mifflin County Historical Society and was a member of Friends of the East Broad Top, and Lewistown Area Radio Control Society (LARCS). He was a dedicated PSU fan and enjoyed watching football.
A receiving of friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father Jayaseelan Amalanthan officiating.
Interment will take place at Mount Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
