Herbert Franklin Fisher, of Lewistown, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 15, 2019, at the age of 89. He was born Jan. 4, 1930, to the late Richard and Zelda Fisher, of Granville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Linda Kay Fisher; His brothers, Richard “Jack,” Ronald “Ron,” and Normand “Ray” Fisher; and his sister, Louise Grose. He is survived by his brothers, Larry and Ralph “Spike” Fisher, and his sister, Connie Crosson.
He is also survived by: his sons, Marc and wife, Jessica, of Amherst, N.H. and Tobin Fisher of Amherst, N.H; his grandchildren, Jaclyn, Sydney, Ava, and Liam Fisher.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that always put family first. He operated his own business, Herbert F. Fisher Complete Carpet Service for 42 years, serving Lewistown and the surrounding area. He also served his community as Granville Township supervisor for multiple terms. He was active in the Elks Club for many years where he held leadership positions. As a young man, he served his country in the 24th Infantry Division as a member of the combat engineering corp, where he was decorated for heroic service during combat operations in the Korean War. For many years, he spoke to high school history classes about his experiences.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2019, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown. A wake will follow the viewing at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Granville United Methodist Church with, Pastor Ted Corcelius officiating.
Interment will take place at Pleasant View Cemetery, McVeytown, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
