David L. Yohn Sr., 71, of Lewistown, passed away June 24, 2019, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 6, 1948, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late George and Gertrude (Waite) Yohn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Yohn Sr.; and sisters, Shirley Sunday and Judy Hopple.
He is survived by: wife, Rebecca J. Yohn, who he married in April of 1968; son, David L. Yohn Jr. and wife, Marlene “Marty”; one granddaughter, Janelle Smith and husband, Dennis; one great-grandson, Michael Smith; siblings, Evelyn M. Birch and husband, Alan, Georgeanna Huffnagle, Dennis Yohn and wife, Jane, and brother-in-law, George Hopple, all of Lewistown.
He was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1966.
He served in the United States Army.
David started working at BF Goodrich on Dorcas Street, Lewistown, then he went to work at Masland, which later changed names to Lear Corporation, and he later retired from Armstrong Cabinets.
He was a firefighter for Brooklyn Hose Co. No. 3, and Highland Park Hose Company No. 34, where he also served as a mechanic, lieutenant and assistant chief.
Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, especially with his granddaughter, who he taught how to fish. He loved his granddog, Twilight, and spending time with his family
Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, with special services by the VFW Post No. 7011.
