Catherine V. Hess

Catherine V. Hess, 91, of Milroy, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2019, at her home.

Born Dec. 21, 1927, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Harry Joseph and Irene (Manbeck) Munson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul R. Hess, whom she married May 13, 1948, died on June 15, 2012; siblings, Goldie Hicks, William Munson, Harry I. Munson, and Evelyn Taylor. Catherine was the last of her immediate family.

She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and great-nephews; and caregivers, Carolyn T. McCardle, Eileen Burdge, and Barbara J. Weiss.

Catherine was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

She was a Lewistown High School graduate, Class of 1944.

She worked as a secretary and office manager for 40 years, at Sitkins scrap yard and later at Kish Apartments.

In her younger years, she was very active in bowling, softball and golfing. She enjoyed playing cards in her card club. She will also be missed by her four-legged best friend, Zoe.

A receiving of friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Kurt McKinney officiating.

Interment will take place at St. Mark’s cemetery.
