Calvin R. “Hork” Bargo, Jr., 85, of Decatur Twp., Lewistown, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017, at his home.    

Born June 30, 1932, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late Calvin R., Sr. and Dorothy P. (Eisenhower) Bargo.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Bargo.         

He is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret “Peg” L. (Smeltzer) Bargo, whom he married Dec. 26, 1952; children, Debra Coble and husband, David, of Reedsville, Karen Hess and husband, Scott, of Lewistown, Cheryl Bargo, of Harrisburg, and Rob Bargo and companion, Beth Molek Shoop, of Lewistown;  nine grandchildren, Matthew Coble and companion, Shannon McKinney, Adam Coble and wife, Ashley,  Christopher Coble and wife, Melissa, Chelsey Coble, Travis Hess and wife, Suzanne, Zachary Hess and wife, Kelly, and Morgan Cella and husband, Donald, and Kyle and Nathan Bargo; eight great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Mira, and Liam Coble; Gianna, Jackson, Isabelle, and Anderson Hess, and Clay Cella; and siblings, Phyllis Bitting and husband, Glenn, Leah Kenepp and husband, Joseph, and Barry Bargo and wife, Deborah, all of Lewistown.

Calvin graduated from Derry Township High School, Class of 1950.

He served in the Army for two years as a sergeant with the 449th Field Operations Battalion, Fort Bragg.   

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown.

Early in life, Calvin was employed as a plasterer, then as a machinist at Standard Steel for 30 years, and lastly, as a bus driver for 16 years with Fisher Brothers, before retiring.

He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Family Center, United Steelworkers Union, and former member of the Chief Logan Lions Club.  He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and was a dedicated Washington Redskins fan.  Calvin had a compassionate heart and would do anything he could to help others.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 7 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Rev. James Rill officiating.

A viewing is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Weds., September 6, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011.
