William E. Baumgardner, 91, of Lewistown passed away at 11:26 p.m., January 12, 2017 at William Penn Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
Born December 22, 1925 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Baumgardner and Bertha (Bell) Clinger Baumgardner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Baumgardner.
He is survived by: his wife, Ernestine P. (Mowery) Baumgardner, whom he married March 6, 1955; sons, Robert L. Baumgardner and wife, Areta, of Lewistown and Joseph M. Baumgardner and wife, Beth, of East Waterford; sister, Thelma Schell, of Manheim; and five grandchildren, Macie Baumgardner Joseph Birch, Betty J. Sweitzer, Christie Searer, and Kelly Searer; seven great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
Bill was a graduate of Yeagertown High School, Class of 1944.
He was a self-employed farmer and tenant farmer. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening and selling his own produce.
Bill was a member of Vira United Methodist Church.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
