William “Bill” Lloyd Auxer, Jr., 89, of Lewistown, died Thursday, June 23, 2016, at his home.

Born October 18, 1926, in Davenport, Iowa, he was the son of the late Evelyn May (Bark) and William Lloyd Auxer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bland (Derby) Auxer on February 8, 2006, to whom he had been married for 58 years.

Bill is survived by three daughters, Cameron B. Auxer, of Lewistown, Leslie Auxer and husband, Dan Guyer, of Cassville, and Regina Auxer O’Riley of Revere, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jana and Angie Corrado, and Frank and Cynthia O’Riley; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Vivian, and Haven; a niece, Bland Derby Campbell; and nephew, Leslie B. Derby, III. 

He graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk, Va. in 1944, and the College of William and Mary in 1951. 

Bill served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Japan.

He was employed in the Marketing Dept. of Phillips Petroleum Company for 35 years.

Bill’s greatest passion in life was spoiling his long line of pet dogs.  He also enjoyed collecting stamps, crafting beautiful objects out of wood and other natural materials, playing golf, and listening to music.  He also was a fine craftsman of the English language and many people around the globe found pleasure in his correspondence.

Following cremation, a private graveside service with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family, with interment to take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Bill’s memory be made to: Pets Come First, 2451 General Potter Hwy, Centre Hall, PA 16828, or Rescue Our Furry Friends, 133 W. Walnut St., Burnham, PA 17009.
