Wilbur Edel, 100, formerly of New York and Mifflinburg, PA died on Oct. 4, 2015 at Riverwoods Nursing Care Center, Mifflinburg.

Born on March 27, 1915 in Yonkers, NY he was a son of the late Ernest and Louise (Walther) Edel.

His wife, Marie (Zong) Edel preceded him in death on Aug. 14, 1987. He had three siblings Howard Edel, Oliver Edel and Helen Edel Rimmer.

He is survived by a few relatives but a host of the dearest friends anyone ever had, a few of whom, on Feb. 5, 1989, gave him a reason for ending eighteen month of mourning and returning to the world of the living.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Wilbur was a political scientist at City University of New York, retiring in 1976.

Wilbur was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He had memberships in the following organizations: Academy of Political Science, American Political Science Assoc. of PA., and Political Science Assoc.

For 47 years the grateful husband of Marie, who while she lived, provided him with the inspiration for everything he ever accomplished, college teacher, administrator and writer. Edel was author of “The Reagan Presidency” and other books and articles on American politics

Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will take place in St. Mark’s Cemetery, Lewistown.

All arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
