Violet E. (Bodenschatz) Pearson

Violet E. Pearson, 102, of Lewistown, died at 8:11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, at the Golden Living Center-William Penn.

Born July 5, 1913, in South Fork, Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Annie (Beck) Bodenschatz.  Her husband, Walter Ervin Pearson, preceded her in death on April 16, 1970.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.

Violet is survived by a sister, Verna Zentack, of Gallitzin; nieces, Shirley Miller and husband, Richard, of Strodes Mills, and Diane Bowman, of Lewistown; nephew Bill Hutchinson and wife, Paula, of Strodes Mills, and many nieces and nephews living outside the area.

Earlier in life, she worked in laundry services at the Lewistown Hospital and later, as a cook in several restaurants in Coatesville.

She was a member of Lake Park United Methodist Church, Lewistown, and served as treasurer of the Ladies' Bible Class, member of the church council, and a communion steward. She was also secretary of her local Pensioners' Club and enjoyed keeping in touch with friends made while Walter was in the Army.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Randy Traxler officiating.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
