Shirley E. (Rhea) Walls

Shirley E. Walls, 80, of Burnham, passed away at 11:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.          

Born May 1, 1937, in Orbisonia, she was a daughter of the late Ross R. and Mary (Gloss) Rhea.      

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard J. Walls, on Aug. 23, 2008; two brothers; five sisters; son-in-law, William Baumgardner Jr., on Oct. 21, 2005; and a special nephew, Kenneth Gutshall, in 2017.

She is survived by: her children, Jan Irizarry and husband, Manuel, of Lewistown, Denise Baumgardner and her companion, Douglas Stott, of Granville, and Larry Walls and wife, Bonnie, of Claremore, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Kristie Ross and husband, David, Willie Baumgardner and wife, Britney, Teri Jo Himes and husband, Dairen, Kortnee Verbera and husband, Enrique, Marissa Walls and fiancé, Justin Fiedler, Allyson Walls, and Julio Irizarry; and seven great-grandchildren, Kambree, Colton, Isaac, Jayden, Lila, Rylee and Rylan.

Shirley was a graduate of Orbisonia High School and Brethren by faith.

She retired from Scotty’s Fashions as a finisher.

Shirley loved her dog, Abby, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing computer games.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 13, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with Pastor Randy Traxler officiating.  A viewing will be held prior to the service from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.    

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
