Shirley P. Chapple, 92, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Valley View Haven, Belleville.
Born Nov. 3, 1924 in Mineral Point, Cambria County, she was a daughter of the late Vada G. (Price) and Delbert Saunders.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Chapple, on May 18, 2004.
She is survived by: daughter, Christy Noel and husband, Tom, of Reedsville; grandchildren, Heather Noel, of Canonsburg, and Lauren Noel, of Takoma Park, Maryland; great-grandchild, Caleb Noel, of Canonsburg; and friend, Eunice Noel, of Scottdale.
Shirley was a graduate of Johnstown High School and Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1946.
She was a registered nurse for Lewistown Hospital, and for 20 years at Standard Steel, Burnham, retiring in 1984.
Shirley was a member of First U.M.C., Lewistown.
She was passionate about being a nurse. Shirley liked to travel and enjoyed jazz music. In her earlier years, she was great at archery.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Jan.19 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.
A viewing will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
