Sara “Kathryn “ (Peck) Klinger, 92, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at her home.
She was the wife of the late William E. Klinger, Jr. They were married in California in 1943 during World War II, two weeks after she graduated from Lewistown High School, class of 1943.
Kathryn was born on Feb. 17, 1924 to the late Melvin and Helen (Pry) Peck in their loving home on Fifth Street. She was the first of four siblings: the late Robert Peck, Thelma Winnifred, wife of the late Bernard Linn, of Landisville, and the late Melvin Richard Peck.
In addition to her sister, Thelma Winnifred, of Landisville, she is also survived by: two daughters, Brenda Kay Summers, of Gap, Jeanne Eileen, wife of Charles Guss, of Sinking Spring; three grandchildren, who loved their “Grammy”, Emily Guss, of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Jill Summers, of New Providence and Brett Summers, of Lititz; one great-grandson, Noah Matos; and her sister-in-law, Shirley Peck, of Harrisburg.
Most of their adult life was spent at the foot of Shade Mountain on the Back Maitland Road working their large organic garden. Blueberries became so important that their lane was named Blueberry Hill.
Ties were still kept with Lewistown as a lifelong member of the Lake Park United Methodist Church.
Kathryn loved her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 4 at Lake Park U.M.C., W. 4th & Crystal Springs, Lewistown with Rev. Randy Traxler, officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4 at the church.
