Ruth T. (Taylor) Fagley

Ruth T. Fagley, 87, of Burnham passed away at 4:05 a.m., Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 after a four and a half year battle with cancer at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown.

Born Sept. 29, 1928 in Burnham she was a daughter of the late S. Earl and Mary E. (Kaufmann) Taylor.

In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Fagley, on Oct. 4, 2009.

She is survived by son, Paul T. Fagley and wife, Kimberly A., of Burnham, daughter, Susan K. Sharp and husband, Gregory, of Elizabethtown and grandson, Matthew Sharp.

Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Burnham High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from West Chester College.

Earlier in life she worked for Rabbi Bleich at the synagogue, Joe Krentzman and Sons on South Main Street Lewistown, and Oak Valley Farms Restaurant.

She was a music teacher at McVeytown and Mattawana Elementary Schools and Armagh-Brown, later Kishacoquillas High School. Ruth also was a private piano teacher for 50 years and owner/manager of the Chief Logan Trading Post from 1979-1993.

Ruth was a member of Ellen Chapel Church and a Service Club Member of the Church.

She enjoyed playing BINGO at the Burnham Fire Company and playing the piano. She also enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, cooking and traveling.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham with Pastor Mark Hill officiating with a committal service being held at the funeral home.

A viewing will be held from 2 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11 at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery.
