Ruth M. Appleby, 100, of Lewistown died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Ohesson Manor.
Born June 8, 1914 in South Fork, Pa., she was a daughter of the late John and Edna (Winder) Koontz.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Lloyd D. Appleby, in 1972; an infant daughter, Shirley Edna Appleby; three brothers, Ernest, Roy and Paul Koontz; and three sisters, Evelyn Weikel, Elveretta Traxler and Naomi Platt.
Ruth is survived by: son, Lloyd H. Appleby and wife, Joyce E., of Lancaster; daughter, Beverly R. Tackett, of Carneys Point, N.J.; sister, Phyllis Smith, of Lewistown; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown with Rev. Joel Smith officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Mattawana Cemetery.
