Levada A. Parchey, 89, of McVeytown died at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at her home.
Born April 7, 1926 in Thompsontown she was a daughter of the late Elmer W. and Nellie I. (Zimmerman) Harshbarger.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Wesley “Bud” W. Parchey on Dec. 12, 2010; her brothers, Jay, Joseph, Harold and R. Earnest Harshbarger; her sisters, Annie Murray, Velda Stuck and Desna Wegaman; and an infant brother.
She is survived by: her children, Karen Goss and husband, Francis, Scott W. Parchey and wife, Linda, and Nancy Ranck and husband, Terry, all of McVeytown; grandchildren, Dana Maxwell, Nathan Goss, Staci Spade, Shelli Benny, Shauna Gingrich, Samantha Deamer and Jodi Earnest; great-grandchildren, Ralie, Nathan, Colton, Carter, Marissa, Maelyn, Bo and Brenna.
Levada was a graduate of Thompsontown High School.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel U.M.C.
She was a devoted Sunday school teacher for over 55 years, editor and publisher of the church newsletter for many years, and was a correspondent with the local newspapers.
Levada was the secretary for Mifflin County Sunday School Association for 15 years, secretary for West Granville Fire Company for 20 years and Centre Union Homemakers Association.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, at Wesley Chapel U.M.C. with Pastor Stephen J. Rynkewitz, Jr. officiating.
A viewing will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
Interment will take place in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
