Lee W. Knepp, 69, of Lewistown, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at his home.     

Born July 30, 1947 in Shindle (Lewistown), he was a son of the late Blain W. Knepp and Wanda M. “Boots” (Gussler) Knepp-Wright. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Paul E. Wright.

Lee is survived by: his wife, Tecla E. (Leeper) Knepp, whom he married on Feb. 22, 1969; four children, William L. Knepp, of Dover, Pa., Emily J. Solt-Marks and husband, Stevie, of Lewistown, Elizabeth J. Oshinski and husband, Bryan, of Harrisburg, and Andrew M. Knepp and companion, Andrea Hoffman, of Mifflintown; eight grandchildren, Tristan Knepp, Brandon Knepp and wife, Tiffany, Chelsea Simmons, Adrian Hudson and companion, Hunter Shirey, Emma Horne, Samuel Knepp, Kalista Solt, and Gabriel Oshinski; and three great-grandchildren; Malikai Knepp, Makaila Knepp, and Ryder Hudson.  Also surviving are: his siblings, Lois Geib and husband, Harvey, of Hughesville, Connie Crampton and husband, James, of Buffalo, N.Y., Wanda Reigle and husband, Donald, of Reedsville, Dean Knepp, Mark Knepp and wife, Susan, of Lewistown, and Gail Sowers and husband, Stephen, of Reedsville.

He was a graduate of Chief Logan High School, Class of 1965.

Lee was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War from 1965-68; on active duty with the U.S. Army National Guard of Pa. from 1975-78; and served in the U.S. Navy from 1982-96, retiring with over 20 years of military service.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown.

Lee was also a member of local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7011, Lewistown, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post #4294, Burnham.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and his many friends. 

A Mass of Christian Burial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thurs., March 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating. 

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Weds., March 22, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

Interment will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lee’s name may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, 1235 S. Clark St., Suite 910, Arlington, VA 22202.
