Helen Elizabeth Howe, 93, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017, 5:40 a.m., at The Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, where she was at peace under their hospice care.     

Born February 14, 1924, in Mifflintown, she was the daughter of the late William Harris Page and Mary Esther Kauffman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband of many years, Roger Vance Howe, and her brother, Bill.     

Helen is survived by: her children, Elaine Howe, of Englewood, Fla., and Thomas D. Howe and wife, Janice, of Elizabethtown; grandsons, Thomas D. Howe II and Timothy Howe, both of Elizabethtown; and nephews, John, Joseph, and William Lundvall of Lewistown and Ocala, Fla.

In her earlier years, she was employed at the Mifflin County Agricultural Extension Office. In 1971, at the time of its inception, she went to work for the Pennsylvania Lottery office.  She later retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in 1997 at age 73, where she worked in public relations.

Helen was a member of Derry Presbyterian Church in Hershey, where she always loved the music, special services and the friendly congregation. She was supported by their shut-in outreach ministry for all the years she was a resident at The Masonic Village.  

She was also a member of The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Order of the Eastern Star.

Helen enjoyed the outdoor beauty of Pennsylvania her whole life while hiking and camping in the mountains, and was an avid Penn State football fan.  She also loved traveling to the beaches of the Jersey Shore.  

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at Mount Rock Cemetery, Oakland Ave., Lewistown, with The Rev. Dr. Marie L. Buffaloe officiating.   

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to: The Masonic Village Hospice Program, 1 Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, PA 17022, or to: Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Rd., Hershey, PA 17033.

Arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
