Douglas L. Wicks

Douglas L. Wicks, 72, formerly of Lewistown, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born December 27, 1944 in Long Island, New York, he was a son of the late Dorothy (Rasmussen) and Leo Douglas Wicks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Joseph Leo Wicks, on Oct. 11, 1971 and a son, Douglas C. Wicks, on Jan. 2, 1992.

He is survived by: his wife, Kathleen J. (Fothergill) Wicks, whom he married April 26, 1969; sons: Andrew R. Wicks and wife, Nekki, of Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Jason T. Wicks, of Lewistown, and Quintin J. Wicks and Liz Hoffner, of Reedsville; and two grandchildren, Trenton Q. Wicks and Aubrie R. Wicks, both of Ft. Bragg.

Douglas was a graduate of Hofstra University, New York.

He had worked for 16 years at Halls Salvage and then, retiring from Lewistown Hospital in environmental services/housekeeping. He had also worked for J-Wood Kitchen Cabinets, as the purchasing manager.

Douglas was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewistown.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, nature, and the outdoors.

A viewing will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 16 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
