Donald E. Harpster, 95, of Burnham, died at 8:47 p.m., Weds., July 22, 2015, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born December 5, 1919, he was a son of the late George and Lula B. (Sweitzer) Harpster.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Belmont, Richard, and Wilbur Harpster, and sisters, Ethel Beck, and F. Jane Stewart.  He was the last of his immediate family.

Donald is survived by: his wife, Fay L. (McGinness) Harpster, whom he married on July 3, 1948; children, JoAnn Frontz and husband, Calvin, of Yeagertown, and Steven Harpster and companion, Daria Wray, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Daniel Picketts and companion, Leanne Faulkner, of Mifflintown, Abbey Picketts and husband, David Thomas, of Lewistown, and Molly Heckendorn and husband, Jason, of Milroy; granddaughters, Nokota Harpster, of Taylor, PA, and Lacie Wert and husband, Tim, of Burnham.

He was known by his great grandchildren as “Lil Pap”.

Donald graduated from Burnham High School in 1937.

He was an electrician at Standard Steel for over 40 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of the White Memorial Congregational Church, Siglerville.  He was also a member of the McVeytown Masonic Lodge #376 F&AM, and was a 32nd Degree Mason in the Valley of Altoona, A.A.S.R.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, at the White Memorial Congregational Church, with Reverend James A. Yoder officiating. 

A private interment will take place in Birch Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to White Memorial Congregational Church, 1198 Locke Mills Rd., Milroy, PA 17063.
