Dewey “Butch” W. Baumgardner, Jr., 74, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:45 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Locust Grove, Mifflin.
Born Dec. 28, 1941, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William and Catherine Cummings.
He was also preceded in death by his stepparents, who raised him, Martha (Swane) and Dewey W. Baumgardner, Sr. and a sister, Alleane (Baumgardner) Dill.
Dewey is survived by: his companion, Mary McClellan; daughter, Roseann Gordon and husband, Brian, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Catriona and Dominique Gordon; his brother, Sam Cummings and wife, Kay, of Mifflin and his first wife, Betty Baumgardner.
He was a graduate of Chief Logan High School, Class of 1959.
Dewey had worked at Mann Edge Tool Company and later, at Empire Kosher for 10 years, retiring in 2007.
He attended Southern Baptist Church, Thompsontown, and Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Lewistown.
Dewey enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors and sports, especially Penn State football. He loved to talk to people and made friends wherever he went.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7 at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.
A viewing will be held from 10 – 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
