Cheryl L. (Shirk) Earnest

Cheryl L. Earnest, 71, of Milroy died at 3:41 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Feb. 13, 1944 in Lewistown she was a daughter of the late Leroy A. Shirk and Madalene L. (Goss) Shirk, who survives.

In addition to her mother, Cheryl is also survived by: her husband, Larry Earnest whom she married on March 1, 1964; her children, Jeanne Stine and husband, James, of Lykens, Karen Scott and husband, Richard, of Waynesboro Virginia, Laurie Fultz and husband, Ryan, of Burnham, and Heather Henggeler, of Georgia; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer Wirrick and husband, Chris, Hannah Stine, Corey, Brittany and Melissa Lewis, Megan and Tyler Earnest, Macey Fultz, Alex Lewis, Joey, Madalene, Lauren, Julia and Jonathan Henggeler; four great-granddaughters, Emma and Charlotte Wirrick and Makenna and Ava Earnest; and two brothers, Scott Shirk, of Reedsville, and Steven Shirk, of New Lancaster Valley.

Cheryl was a 1962 graduate of Kish High School.

Earlier in life she had worked as a lab technician at the Lewistown Hospital.

She was a member of St. Mark’s (Havice Valley) United Methodist Church.

Cheryl was a loving mother, grandmother and a great wife and companion. She enjoyed family gatherings and was very proud of her family. She was a very caring person that would do anything for anyone. She also was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 3 at St. Marks United Methodist Church, 293 Havice Valley Road, Milroy, with Pastor Vicki Elmer officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., 108 First Ave. Burnham.

Interment will take place in Salem Cemetery, Siglerville Pike, Milroy.
