Charles T. Snook

Charles T. Snook, 97, formerly of Lewistown died at 9:51 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Valley View, Belleville.

Born Nov. 14, 1917 in Lewistown he was a son of the late Albert B. and Hannah M. (Clemens) Snook.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Edith “Edie” I. Snook, in 2004; and his two sisters, Josephine Brehman and Martha Snook.

Charles is survived by: his sons, Brian K. Snook, of Georgia, and C. Gregory Snook, of Virginia.

He was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

Charles was a well-known local photographer who owned and operated Snook Studio for many years. During the time he was in business there were very few local residents that hadn’t been in front of his camera, whether for wedding photos or family, individual, senior or elementary school portraits. 

He was a member of many local organizations including Masonic Lodge No. 203, The Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. 663 and the Lewistown Lions Club which he served as president. He was also a member of the Grace United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 4 at Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville with Rev. Gerald Peachey officiating.

A visitation time will be held from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Valley View.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Charles’s name may be made to Grace U.M.C., 101 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

All arrangements are under the care of Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
