Calvin M. Doverspike, Jr. entered his heavenly home on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Senior Commons, York. 

Born July 28, 1928, in rural Hawthorn, he was a son of the late Calvin Sr. and Carrie (Troup) Doverspike. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Showers) Doverspike, and his sister, Bertha Horne. 

He is survived by:  children, David Doverspike, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Ronald Doverspike and wife, Marcell, of Red Lion; grandchildren, Kyle Doverspike and wife, Macy, of Alexandria, Va., and Joshua Doverspike, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; siblings, Dewey Doverspike and wife, Bernice, of Warren, Helen Shrecengost, of New Bethlehem and Glenn Doverspike and wife, Shirley, of Yeagertown; and close friend, Margie Byler, of McVeytown.   

Calvin lived most of his married life in Reedsville. 

Calvin served as a corporal for two years in the U.S. Army and was a faithful member of Shrader United Methodist Church, Reedsville.  He drove truck for Womelsdorf of Burnham for about 20 years and then was owner/operator hauling steel for another 20 years.  Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and bird watching. 

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. – noon with a funeral service to follow at noon Saturday, Sept. 9 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham, PA with Rev. Karen McCachren officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Calvin’s name may be made to: Shrader United Methodist Church, 1590 Honey Creek Rd, Reedsville, PA 17084.

Interment will take place, with VFW Post 7011 honors, in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.
