Berton Lewis Folk, 92, of Lewistown, passed away at 2:37 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 at Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville.

Born July 15, 1924 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Myrtle (Fisher) and Arthur R. Folk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Olivia (Knouse) Folk; his second wife, Eva (Arnold) Kearns Folk; a son, Donald “Donnie” Folk on October 13, 2013; a sister, Mary Hampton; and a brother, Benjamin Folk.    

He is survived by: his children; Berton E. Folk and wife, Debbie, of Reedsville, Robert Folk and wife, Sandra, of Mifflintown, Russell Folk, of Lewistown, Raymond Folk, of Port Royal, Paul Folk and wife, Karen, of Palmyra, Ruth Bender and husband, Dave, of Burnham, Alan Folk, Sr. and wife, Janice, of Lewistown; a stepson, Dale Kearns and wife, Deb, of McClure; 27 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Surviving siblings are: Cora Graham, of Lewistown, Helen Silar and husband, Eric, of Red Lion, Arthur Folk and wife, Mary Jane, of Burnham, and Myrtle Ayers and husband, Steve, of Lewistown.

Berton was a member of the Salvation Army Church, Lewistown.

He was a WWII and Korean Conflict Army veteran, who proudly served from 1943-1945 and from 1950-1952, receiving the Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.    

He was employed by Standard Steel for 35 years. 

Berton loved spending time with his large family.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, collecting knives, and playing pinochle.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 30 at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Salvation Army Captains David and Darlene Means, Major Herbert Hamilton, and Major Paul Mackneer officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thurs., Sept 29 at the funeral home. 

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with military honors by VFW Post 7011.
