Berniece Mae Macknair, 86, formerly of McClure, died at 10:50 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Meadowview Manor, McVeytown.
Born April 30, 1929, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late George W. and Celia (Casner) Kuhns.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a brother, William Kuhns.
Berniece is survived by: her husband, Carl L. Macknair, whom she married May 22, 1948; children, Carol Cohenour and husband, Richard, of Three Springs, David Macknair and wife, Deborah, Jay Edwin Macknair and companion, Evelyn Houser, of McClure, and Joyce Struble and husband, Timothy, of Curwensville; sisters, Agnes Boreman and husband, Clair, of McClure, Georgia Winegardner, Grace Kahley and husband, Alfred, both of Lewistown, and JoAnn Kuhn and husband, William, of Annville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a graduate of the Yeagertown High School Class of 1948.
Earlier in life, she was a cook at Decatur Elementary School for 23 years.
Berniece was a member of the Dormantown Lutheran Church, Ladies of the Moose Auxiliary and Decatur Grange.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, July 27, at Maitland Brethren Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Kuhn officiating.
Interment will be in Maitland Brethren Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dormantown Lutheran Church, McClure.
